Through the CU Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus Office of Inclusion and Outreach, the university has developed relationships with public schools across Metro Denver. These partnerships bring young students into our classrooms and labs on campus to learn and expose them to potential career paths.
During the Skinner Middle School’s annual Breakfast of Champions held last week, Principal Michelle Koyama along with Dirk Boden, Neighborhood Center director and Marilyn Leff, DPS volunteer coordinator, announced this year’s honorees.
School of Medicine Assistant Professor Virginia Sarapura, MD, was selected for her continued service and volunteerism in assisting Skinner Middle School students, staff, faculty and the community.
Also honored were six CU students for their volunteer work last year as tutors and group leaders. Students include (photo l to r) Kimberlee Wallace, Twee Nguyen and Teresa Amaya as well as (not pictured) Viri Rojo, Abigail Esquivel and Claudia Pando.
